Madi is a thoughtful and compassionate clinician with experience working with tamariki, rangatahi and whānau with a diverse range of psychological difficulties. She works from a strength-based approach and seeks to understand what a full and meaningful life looks like for each of her clients so she can support them towards this.

When treating eating disorders, Madi provides a non-judgemental space to empower and enhance the important role each family member plays in supporting their loved one to full recovery. Madi understands how eating disorders can impact all aspects of a person’s life, and seeks to walk alongside each whānau in supporting their young person back to engaging in meaningful and varied functioning as quickly as possible.

Madi is providing assessments for young people presenting with suspected eating disorders, and is currently offering Family Based Treatment (FBT), Adolescent-Focused Therapy (AFT), Integrative Cognitive-Affective Therapy (ICAT) and Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) for adolescents and young adults with anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa with an illness duration of up to three years. She receives regular expert supervision and is committed to ongoing professional development to provide the most effective evidence-based treatments. Alongside her interests in disordered eating and body image concerns, Madi has experience working with a range of other psychological disorders and is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and treatment for PTSD and complex trauma. Madi’s therapeutic style is collaborative, creative and compassionate, seeking to personalise treatment with each client’s values and goals.

Due to the limitations of private practice, Madi doesn’t accept referrals for clients who are actively suicidal.

Madi is available for referrals in the Wellington and Hutt Valley region and is seeing clients on Thursdays and Fridays at her office in Wellington.
