Dr Mindy Hung

Registered Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologist Board
Member of New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists

Mindy is a registered clinical psychologist who is passionate about working with children, adolescents, families and adults. Mindy has worked within the District Health Board (DHB) mental health services and private health settings since 2016. Mindy’s area of interest in body image anxiety and eating disorders began early in her career and she worked as an Eating Disorder Liaison clinician at CAMHS ADHB.

Mindy’s work is based on the belief that people want to live their lives to the fullest and in line with their own values. Mindy understands that many individuals and parents may have something similar in mind for themselves or their children; however, it is not always easy for them to grow up through many inevitable life challenges, let alone mental health difficulties. It is Mindy’s passion to support those who are struggling and help them work towards reengaging with a meaningful life.

Mindy provides assessments for people presenting with characteristics of eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Avoidant / Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). She offers evidence-based treatments including Family Based Treatment (FBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) for eating disorders.

In addition to eating disorders, Mindy has experience working with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), body dysmorphic disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Mindy has trainings and experience using other treatment approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT).

Mindy speaks fluent English and Mandarin. She studied a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Psychology and Statistics at the University of Auckland and completed a Master’s degree in Psychology and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Massey University. She has two dogs, and her favourite colour is brown.

Mindy is currently available to see clients on Tuesdays at NZEDC, Auckland.
