Amber is a Clinical Psychologist/Kaimatai Hinengaro and a member of Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders. Amber’s passion for working with individuals experiencing symptoms of an eating disorder began early in her academic studies and has continued throughout her psychological career. Amber has many years’ experience engaging with rangatahi/youth and their whanau alongside their experience of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. In addition, Amber was the Eating Disorder Liaison Clinician for Children and Adolescents for the Bay of Plenty region between 2016 and 2021.

Amber has training and demonstrated skill in Family Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Adolescent Focused Therapy (AFT) for Anorexia Nervosa, Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and is committed to Health at Every Size (HAES) principles. She remains committed to ongoing supervision and development of her clinical knowledge and application of evidence-based treatment, while taking into account the unique attributes of those she works with, alongside the expertise they have on their own needs. 

Amber is known for her kind, compassionate, and validating nature and her enthusiasm for empowering both young people, and those who support them, in their journey to wellbeing. Amber is proud of her whakapapa/ancestry and is able to apply mātauranga/Māori knowledge within the clinical setting.

Amber is based in the beautiful Tauranga Moana and, as a member of the NZEDC team, currently offers assessment and intervention for rangatahi, including young adults, on Thursday and Fridays.
